First Aid for Sport and Exercise – FASE 1

A sports specific first aid course designed for anyone involved in sport, exercise or any physical activity where an injury can happen.

Enjoy practical, interactive training with professional and relaxed delivery.

When involved in sport, you must be fully prepared and confident to deal with injuries to your players. FASE 1 (First Aid for Sport and Exercise) is an essential sports first aid course where you will learn skills to treat or manage injuries before the ambulance arrives. This course is taught by health professionals who will draw on their experience and knowledge of working pitch-side to create a comfortable atmosphere, encouraging questions and discussion throughout to guide you through the course.

FASE 1 is pitched at a basic level that’s enjoyable, comprehensive but easy to understand. A simple, straightforward approach that gives you confidence even in the most difficult situations. The range of instructor knowledge combined with only relevant content and an emphasis on practical learning, make FASE 1 an essential course for anybody requiring first aid for sport and exercise.

Lubas First Aid for Sport and Exercise fulfils requirements of Governing Bodies, Sporting Organisations, Schools and Colleges for basic first aid cover in all range of sport and exercise activities.

FASE 1 is the first level of our ‘Sports Trauma Management Pathway’ where you can further develop your injury management skills and knowledge as you develop your career in sport.

Who should Attend?

Sporting casualties can’t always be treated by a trained paramedic or medical professional. If you could ever be responsible for treating a sport or exercise-related injury, the level 1 First Aid for Sport and Exercise course is ideal for you.
Here are some of the people who have benefitted from our sport first aid course in the past:

  • Parents
  • Personal Trainers
  • Coaches and Instructors
  • Games/P.E. Teachers
  • Volunteers

This course will provide you with essential first aid skills and the confidence to administer treatment when necessary. If you are already a medical professional, we recommend our more advanced Sports Trauma Management course.

Attendees should be 16 or over. If you would like to arrange a course for anybody under this age please contact us.

What will I learn?

Here’s a breakdown of the FASE 1 course’s content:

  • Approaching the Injured Person- Learn to safely approach the casualty, identify whether or not they are still conscious, and administer CPR if necessary.
  • Wound Workshop- Learn to manage wounds and bleeding, deal with shock, and prevent infection.
  • Bones, Muscles & Joints – Learn how to identify and manage fractures, dislocations, cramp, sprains, strains, and other joint injuries.
  • Neck/Spinal Injuries – Learn to identify a spinal injury and manage the injury until help arrives.
  • Head Injuries & Concussions – Learn to recognise and manage a concussion or serious head injury.
  • Medical Emergencies – Learn to recognise signs and symptoms of common medical emergencies in sport and manage them accordingly.
  • Putting it All Together – Finally, we recap the course by going through a step-by-step approach to assessing injured players.

The course allows time for the demonstration and practice of all the skills mentioned above.

What qualification will I get?

Following completion of this course, you will be awarded the Lubas Medical First Aid for Sport and Exercise Certificate. The FASE 1 certification is valid for 3 years, however, we strongly recommend keeping your skills up to date.
